Henry Marquez, age 76, passed away on his birthday, May 14, 2024, in Fresno, California. He was born in Selma, California, to Mary and Paul Marquez in 1948. As a young boy, he enjoyed baseball and played in Little League. Henry graduated from Selma High in 1967. In 1969, he married Yolanda, and later had four children. In 1970, he joined the Army. Henry served two tours in Vietnam. Henry was stationed throughout the United States as well as in Germany. While in Germany, Henry and his family took the opportunity to visit all of Europe. After his Army career, in 1986, Henry moved his family to California and joined the United States Post Service, retiring as a Postal Carrier. Henry enjoyed going to the casino to press his luck. He visited his favorite diner for coffee every morning and shuttled his friends around town to their appointments. He proudly wore his Vietnam veteran hat and patriotic shirts.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary, and survived by his children, Laura, Stefanie, Henry, and John-Paul; brother Leandro and sister Linda; and grandchildren Lillyana and Selena. Henry also had a wide circle of friends who will remember him for his kindness and generosity. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Henry will be laid to rest with his parents at the Selma Floral Cemetery on June 4, 2024.
