Surrounded by loved ones, Esther S. Rodriguez passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 1:10 in the afternoon. She was born on October 12th, 1929, in Selma, California to Martin Sanchez and Margarita Olvera Sanchez, both from Mexico.

She attended school until the 8th grade.

Victor Savedra Rodriguez asked Esther to be his girlfriend on December 31st, 1948; they eloped May 12th, 1949. Married by court May 26th, 1949, and then married by church on July 11th, 1949.

She is preceded in death by her parents Martin and Margarita Sanchez. Her siblings, Conrado Sanchez, Andres Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez, Elvira Medina and Antonio Sanchez. Her son, Victor Rodriguez, her husband Victor S. Rodriguez, her son-in-law Alfred G. Luna, and her son Carlos Rodriguez.

Esther's immediate surviving family are siblings, Martin Sanchez from San Luis, Sonora, Mexico, Augustin Sanchez from Monterey, Mexico and Emma Lopez from Madera, California. Her surviving children Mario Rodriguez from Indio, California, Estella Luna from Selma, CA, Albert Rodriguez from Selma, CA, Esther Prine from Kingsburg, CA, Alejandro Rodriguez from Selma, CA, and Emilio Rodriguez from Nipomo, CA. Esther has 20 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grand Children.

A public viewing will be held January 5th, 2012, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Family Church, 2220 Hicks Dr., Selma, California. A funeral service will be held January 6th, 2012, at 1:00 in the afternoon, at New Hope Family Church with Pastor Wayman Ming officiating. Immediately following, Esther will be laid to rest at the Kingsburg Cemetery, right above her husband.

Funeral services were provided by Thomas-Robinson Funeral Home in Selma, California.
